More German youths say no to cigarettes

Smoking is decidedly "out" among German youths, with just 13 percent of 12- to 17-year-olds in Germany starting the habit in 2010, according a study by the German Center for Health Education.

That is the lowest level since the organization started tracking youth smoking 30 years ago. The Center for Health Education also said about half as many German youths started smoking in 2010 as the same age group did in 2001, when 28 percent of youngsters smoked.

The Center for Health Education's Director, Elisabeth Pott, said the findings are part of a downward trend in smoking in Germany.

Cameron Diaz: 'I Love Porn!'

Cameron Diaz visited 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' Thursday night to promote her upcoming movie 'Bad Teacher,' in which she smokes pot, gets lathered up at a car wash in Daisy Dukes and chases her real-life ex-boyfriend, Justin Timberlake. But it was her love of adult movies that kept Kimmel's attention.

In a new trailer for the upcoming comedy, the star is seen flashing her incredible figure in tight Daisy Duke denim shorts as she gets lathered up in soap suds at a car wash.

"I love porn!" she exclaimed. Cameron went on to talk about how easy it is to order porn on the sly in hotels.

"You know what I love about hotels? How discreet they are," she said. "They always give you that little thing at the bottom - 'Your room will be charged the same as any other room, no titles will be used.'"

In her new movie ‘Bad Teacher’ Cameron Diaz Smokes Pot

Cameron Diaz proves she is schooled in the art of seduction in her upcoming film, Bad Teacher.

In a new trailer for the upcoming comedy, the actress is seen flashing her incredible figure in tight Daisy Duke denim shorts as she gets lathered up in soap suds at a car wash.

The 38-year-old is also pictured smoking marijuana in a scene from the film in which she plays a raunchy educator looking for a man to take care of her.

Diaz also pairs up with her with her former boyfriend Justin Timberlake who plays another member of staff in the film due to be released in June this year.

The actress described the flick as 'filthy' but 'fun' and said she had given her seal of approval to Timberlake's role.

'We wanted Justin because he's such a brilliant comedian. He's so funny. He's very, very talented,' she said.

'And Jason Segel is the heart of the film, which is weird. It's sort of a love triangle between the three of us.'

Entry Of Chinese Buyers Push Zimbabwe Tobacco Prices Up, Break Cartels

The entry of Chinese buyers has pushed up the prices of tobacco on auction here as it spurs competition and breaks cartels which used to control the sector, says Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) chief executive officer Andrew Matibiri.

Presenting oral evidence before the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Agriculture, Water, Lands and Resettlement here Tuesday, he said prices of tobacco continued to firm at the auction floors, largely propelled by growing Chinese demand.

Matibiri said the Asian economic giant had been a boon to the tobacco sector, consuming about 40 per cent of the total output last year. "Of the tobacco sold, 40 per cent is going to China, another 40 (per cent) to Europe and the remainder to other parts of the world," he said.

Washington State Considers Allowing Cigar Smoking in Shops

While the state has had an indoor smoking ban since 2005, the change would let customers light up cigars in cigar stores.

A Washington state Senate committee held a public hearing last week on a bill that would allow customers of retail tobacco shops and cigar lounges to light up on the premises, the Columbian reports. The state has had an indoor smoking ban at all establishments since 2005.

The measure would let 100 cigar lounges and 500 retail tobacco stores to request an endorsement for on-site cigar and pipe smoking. Cigarette smoking would continue to be prohibited. The catch is that under the new law, those establishments would need to have a separate ventilation and exhaust system.

Durbin Urges MLB To Ban All Tobacco Use

U.S. Senator Dick Durbin says whether they like it or not, professional athletes are role models for kids everywhere.

That’s why the Illinois Democrat says it’s a big problem any time a Major Leaguer is caught on camera spitting out a big stream of tobacco juice.

“I will tell you that the one group of Americans who are using tobacco more than ever are high school boys,” Durbin tells KMOX News. “And when you trace it, it turns out it’s because their sports heroes, those baseball players — one out of three of them — use smokeless or spit tobacco.”

Durbin, along with fellow Democrat Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey, are now calling on baseball commissioner Bug Selig to ban tobacco use in the Majors, as it was in the minor leagues decades ago.

China Film Administration Seeks to Stub Out Cinematic Smoking

The government is working to cut smoking scenes out of television and movies, which will lead to resistance from the country’s powerful tobacco industry.

BEIJING – Media authorities in China have again raised a stink about smoking depicted on screen, ordering producers to stub out cinematic cigarettes to help rein in the country’s rampant use of tobacco.

China produces -- and its people consume -- more tobacco products than any other country in the world. Chinese also see plenty of smoking in their average filmed entertainment. No surprise considering the business is a state-run cash cow that paid roughly $75 billion in taxes to the one-party Chinese government in 2010, State Tobacco Monopoly Administration data shows.

Smoking weed? It's no big deal, says Richard and Judy's Chloe

Richard and Judy’s daughter Chloe Madeley yesterday claimed smoking cannabis is ‘no big deal’, saying: ‘I think it’s pretty nothing actually.’

The 23-year-old, currently competing in ITV’s Dancing On Ice, made the comments about photographs of her inhaling from a cannabis pipe at a music festival.

When the pictures of the incident in Norfolk emerged two years ago, she issued an apology saying: ‘I was really stupid. I regret doing what I did and have learnt my lesson.’

But yesterday Miss Madeley said: ‘If I’m going to be totally honest, I don’t think that smoking weed is that big a deal.

‘I was really worried that people were going to be angry with me because I know how people feel about drugs. I immediately apologised.

‘But, with the exception of skunk, which has been proven to be dangerous, I think people might be surprised how many people smoke weed.

Stand up against smoking in bars

I’ve been thinking about why laws get enacted and what the role of the government truly is.

I’ve been thinking about why laws get enacted and what the role of the government truly is. Here’s the deal:

Minnesota has HF 188 and SF 168 that deal with re-instating smoking in bars, going against the Freedom to Breathe Act of 2007. Some people think that the issue of smoking in public places is a business right and a personal right. So, I took my dog for a walk to ponder the idea of rights.

Now, many communities have fines if your dog takes a dump and you don’t pick it up. I highly doubt there are very many people who shout “my dog has a right to do whatever he wants wherever and whenever he wants!” Nor would many be happy to utilize public bike paths and parks and be subjected to the smell or even to step in it.
